why have my parents have turned my christmas into a Christmas Hell? I feel really upset, I was really looking forward to a great Christmas but it has turned out to be the worst one yet. My parents always say I am not getting much for Christmas this year, but I always seem to get a lot. This year, I asked for a laptop and went through a lot of arguing with my Mam before i could buy it, even then, I had to pay extra money to get one that would even support the basics as she wasn't willing to spend that much. I wasn't that bothered, my brother got told the same. I thought I would be getting all the usual stuff like Jewellery and perfume. I knew my little sister would get a lot of presents, but I was totally shocked when I walked downstairs this morning. My parents must of spent a lot of money on my little sister, they had even bought her a wii and she is only 6. My brother had his usual, main present and then lots of little things, and then a few more expensive things. I on the other hand, got a laptop, a cheap laptop bag, a cheap jewellery box that still had the ten pound half price sticker on and some make up that I was there when they bought which was also half price. Now to be honest, I wouldn't be that bothered, but it seems like a lot of effort went into my brothers and sisters Christmas present, while none went into mine. If my parents didn't have a lot of money then I would totally understand, but they have spent probably five times as much money on my little sister than me. This was my first Christmas where i had a job having only turned old enough to get a job and I bought my family quite expensive gifts and put a lot of thought into them as I wanted to give back. I feel really let down. I feel that my parents have put no effort into Christmas for me. I feel that I have been bottom of their list and this has really upset me. I don't want to say anything to them as they would probably just say I have been being greedy, but I feel so left down. I have spent the entire day in my room and cried for a lot of it. I think my dad knows I'm upset, but my mam keeps complaining at me for moping. I just don't understand why they would not make this Christmas special. Have I done something wrong? I don't understand why they decided to buy me one present that I put more money towards than them and then feel that I would be content. I know I probably sound greedy but four presents of which I can only use my laptop, so really I have gained nothing this Christmas. Christmas has been one of the worst days this year and I feel now I have to go back to school and lie about what a great Christmas I had because how can I turn around to my friends and say I got a laptop when the majority of them stood there and watched me pay for it. Why all of sudden to my parents not love me enough to at least put some effort into Christmas for me instead of ruining the one day I look forward to all year.

Which is a better subcompact laptop? HP, Dell, or Acer? I just want a really small, cheap laptop I can toss in my bag and use to take notes during class. can I build a laptop with my inspiron motherboard? My mom bought a Dell Insprion 1721 last year sometime, but when she got it we were having issues, so dell sent us a brand new mobo, but the issues had resolved themselves so we have had the new mobo in the garage for the last year or so.. It's been in it's box, in a static resistance bag, and all that stuff, so I'm sure it's fine. Well I'm wondering if I can take this mobo, and buy myself a broken laptop (mobo broke) that's the same size (17inch) and put the new mobo into it with new ram, and have me a new good cheap laptop?? Paying for my roommate's laptop screen? My roommate had his laptop in his bookbag sitting next to a couch. I accidently fell over in a chair and landed on it and now theres about a 2 inch black spot on the screen. It was a total accident and I agreed to pay for the costs to repair the screen. The whole laptop cost $500 so I figured to have to pay between $250-300. However, he's finding out that the repairs might cost anywhere from $375-475, pretty much the cost of a new laptop. He said that if he can't find a cheaper replacement, then it might be better to buy a whole new laptop with me paying for it. I totally disagree as I didn't break the entire laptop, only the screen. Since he didn't have it an a specific laptop bag with all the special padding in it, I feel he has to share some of the blame. Something that expensive you should take care of. The right thing I think is to just pay him $250-300 towards a new laptop. I wouldn't expect him to buy me a new desktop computer if he just broke my lcd screen. What do you think?

As for the damage, well the computer turns on but the screen stays black, and only "some" of the blinking lights flash on (others stay off). The laptop is old and is on its last legs but since I am dependant on my laptop for travel purposes I need an immediate fix (either a repair shop or a new computer). Should I bring my foreman grill with me to Asia? I'm going one way, and won't be back for a long time, years. I would like to not eat out ALL the time. The problem is, I can only take 2 bags plus a carry on (my laptop) and I have to pack only the most important things in the world to me. Do they sell Foreman Grills there? I know we Americans are the most fat obsessed, and they may not have need or demand for a product like this, I'm just so damn good with it! Can I buy one there (specifically Thailand) cheap, or should I bring mine? OK, I HAVE checked, in Thailand the hotels keep European AND American style outlets. Thanks, but it's not just for burgers. Chicken, fish, pork, it cooks everything so well, SO fast, so juicy! To hell with whether it cooks the fat out or not, it just does an amazing job! Sometimes I cook veggies or just potatoes in it, no meat. And the new ones allow you to take the plates out and wash them, so you don't have to wash the WHOLE THING everytime anymore. I rarely use a stove or regular grill anymore....

Suggest a bag that will fit Nikon D60 and laptop? Hi, I got Nikon D60 and 14" laptop. I was wondering if there's any of you that could suggest me a good backpack (2 straps for both shoulders bag) that will fit both items plus accessories for the D60 (memory card, extra batt, etc) and also laptop (mouse, extra batt, power cord and plug). It will also be good if it can fit in some books, personal toiletries and water bottle. I hope to have an easy access for the camera, so I could just put it in and out as quick as possible. Quick, Cheap Lunch in a Backpack? I'm a college student with little time and even less money. I spend ALL DAY Tuesday and Thursday on campus tempted by fast food, but without the cash to buy it. What food can I buy that is quick, cheap, will fit in my backpack, and won't spoil or taste bad after spending 6-7 hours in my bag? I'm already carrying around a backpack and a laptop, so I don't want to carry a cooler as well, so something I can just stick in a plastic zip bag and drop in my backpack. Is Crumpler a Good enough Bag? I'm gonna start sch. soon and I was looking around for a good bag. I need one that can carry a 14" laptop, charger, notes, books everyday. I've seen some laptop cases I really like in a couple of stores locally, but try as I might I can't find a website for them to compare prices (the high street is hideously expensive where I live, so I always compare prices before I buy, and just buy it online if it's a lot cheaper, which it usually is!). The labels on them say they are American Tourister by Samsonite, and they come in various styles and colors, of the sort designed to appeal to women around college age. There is a backpack style which is the one I'm interested in, plus an over the shoulder tote and a briefcase with short handles and an optional long strap. I've also seen a rolling suitcase in the same style. Portable printer for documents...? Due to learning disabilities and some other factors, I have an IEP that allows me to use a laptop to type my notes instead of writing them by hand. School just started a week ago and things are going fairly well, except for assignments that I type out that are due during the same class period. Whenever I try looking for a portable printer that I could maybe store in a teacher's room or in the office, all I get are printers that only do 4x6 photos. Is there such a thing as a small printer that will just print black and white documents, and that I could easily store in a classroom? If it could do color that would actually be quite nice for use during the summer, but right now all I need is a cheap, tiny printer. Also, is there such a thing as a printer that's thin enough for me to actually put in my messenger bag and carry from class to class, or is that just wishful thinking on my part? Thanks!

Turn LCD monitor into photo frame? Here's a challenge to all you techies out there. I have an standard LCD monitor with svga input. I want to use it to display pictures (i.e. like one of those digital photo frames you can buy) but don't want to use a computer or laptop. So, what other devices are available to show photos on a svga monitor? I have seen an mp4 player on eBay and a device that works from a hard disk but both were higher than I want to pay (max £30) So, is there a cheaper mp4 player with vga output out there or is there a memory card reader or memory stick with (s)vga output either directly or via a simple adapter? how is this how to make it better? My first anime convention I went to my first anime convention February 18–20, 2005. I went to Katsucon 11 in Washington D.C. Katsucon 11 was held at two adjoining hotels: The Crystal City Marriott and Sheraton in Arlington, VA. I rode up with two of my friends in a cramped 1992 2-door Chevrolet cavalier that we stuffed 3 days worth of clothes, 3 sleeping bags, 2 cameras, 1 laptop, our costumes and props, and 3 fat girls into. The 3 hour drive up wasn’t that bad. We left out at 6 am Friday morning hoping to be some of the first ones there because of the parking issue and the long lines due to there being 5,700 people attending. We got through the lines finally only to find the people we were going to be rooming with didn’t come so we had to search out a hotel room in a booked hotel. We found a room for $20 a night (instead of $153 a night) it was so cheap because there was already 14 other girls in it. We went and explored the convention in our sailor moon related costumes. I was Sailor Pluto. I still can’t figure how I got talked into dressing like that, but oh well that’s over and done with. I got Greg Ayres’ autograph who is the voice of Satoshi Hiwatari in DNAngel We met many nice people and many rude ones too. I also got Johnny Yong Bosch’s autograph he is the voice of Vash in Trigun, but most people will always know him as Adam, the Black Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. We took many photos and bought many anime related things. Although the convention had it’s down points like someone stealing the orb out of my staff. Then someone getting shoved into me causing me to trip over my staff (it broke). And not being able to sleep it was still fun and I hope to go again.

Scared First Time Traveler ? So I plan to move up to New York in a couple weeks, to a friend’s house, and I’m taking a plane.
